Snaps + Rye - Notting Hill, London
Some Sunday morning brunches standout as more special than others. While Poached Eggs and Avocado on toast are delicious and totally instagrammable, sometimes you have to branch out and try something new. This weekend brought me and my ladies who lunch to a very special little place in Notting Hill; Snaps and Rye.
Snaps and Rye is London’s only Danish Restaurant serving up authentic Nordic Cuisine. Their contemporary Menu is a brunch-lover’s dream, there are eggs on the menu for the traditionalists but they come with a side of drool-worthy house cured salmon and famous homemade Rye Bread.
After a bit of liquid over-indulgence on Saturday, I needed more than what the beautifully Cured Meats and Salads had to offer so I went for the Baked Rarebit Rye bread which is soaked in Malt Beer, Mustard, Eggs + Cream, Topped with Danish Gamle Ole Cheese with Hog's Pudding and Bloody Viking Ketchup. Snaps and Rye has been chosen as one of The Evening Standard’s top healthy eating restaurants of 2016, but don’t let that put you off, you can certainly enjoy some gooey cheesy goodness here too! This deliciousness was washed down with a Bloody Viking (the Danish Bloody Mary) and since we were having such a good time, a cheeky Prosecco to finish.
Snaps and Rye was a total stand-out Brunch experience, not just because of the mouth-watering menu but also the whole place has a focus on showing us Londoners the Danish good life. The restaurant is bright, warm and the staff are friendly and welcoming (they were all smiling!) it’s just a great place to be and we genuinely could have stayed all day. I think Kell, the owner, describes it best when she explains the meaning of the Danish concept ‘Hygge’, “It’s so much more than just cosiness. It’s where all your senses are evoked by just feeling good. Good company, friends, candlelights, it’s a time / place where you have no worries, you are just really content.”
I can’t want to go back to try their Dinner Menu!
