Broadway Market - Hackney, London
Broadway Market is a short stretch of happiness that links London Fields to Regents Canal. For one magical day each week all of my favourite things are found in one place, quite simply: good food + good drinks + good people = good times. You would be hard pressed to find a better place to celebrate the start of the weekend.
Browsing the stalls from North to South I often end up at the Market Café. It rests canal-side, its large windows frame idyllic views of bobbing canal boats and allow for shameless hipster-watching. The food hits the spot and the beverage selection well accommodates those boozy brunches that go on until dark.
The market has over 130 stalls and is mixture of food, fresh produce, vintage clothing, antiques and creations of local artists. However, it is the intoxicating aromas billowing from the food stalls that get me. Every. Single. Time. I want it all. However, if I had to pick the standouts…I generally cannot leave without a selection of the delicacies from Meringue Girls, Mimolette and Saucisson from La Bouche and Dumpling Shack’s signature Fried Soup Dumplings.
When I admit defeat and cannot physically carry/eat anymore, I retreat to the Canal. Watching the sun go down from the Cat and Mutton Bridge, with a craft beer in hand = pure bliss.
Broadway Market is open Saturdays from 9am - 5pm.
